In preparation for the Zamboanga Peninsula Agro-Industrial Summit 2023, Department of Agriculture IX Regional Executive Director Dennis R. Arpia, chair of the Technical Working Group (TWG), presided over the 2nd Meeting today, March 20, 2023 at Jackie's Hotel, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The conduct of the Agro-Industrial Summit in Zamboanga Peninsula is expected to attain the regionโs vision of becoming the countryโs center of sustainable agri-fishery industries with the expected outcome of improving agriculture and fishery competitiveness, and contributing to enhancing the farmersโ income and improving agricultural productivity.
Director Arpia presented the agri-fishery situationer, including the market information of agricultural commodities produced in the region, and the applicable agriculture and fishery regulatory laws, rules and regulations.
With National Economic Development Authority Director Phlorita A. Ridao as Secretariat, the TWG members are: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) IX, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) IX, Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (ZAMBOECOZONE), Presidential Management Staff (PMS), Department of Health (DOH) IX, Philippine National Police (PNP) IX, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) IX, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) IX, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IX, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) IX, Department of Energy (DOE) IX, National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) IX, PSR Pedro Rufo N. Soliven, PSR Carl Andrew M. Rubio, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) IX; Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) IX; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) IX; Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) IX; National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) IX and National Irrigation Administration (NIA) IX.
The Local Government Units of the three (3) provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula including cities of Pagadian, Dipolog, Dapitan, Zamboanga and Isabela are also part of the preparatory meetings. #DA9
