National Commission for Indigenous Peoples
Pagadian City - The Department of Agriculture IX (DA9) Regional Executive Director Rad Donn L. Cedeño and the National Commission for Indigenous Peoples IX (NCIP9) Regional Director Ferdausi S. Cerna meet to discuss existing partnership between the agencies in the implementation of projects for the Indigenous Peoples communities in the region, on June 8, 2022.
NCIP 9 RD Cerna emphasized the vital requirements to secure before project implementation, these are the Certificate of Precondition (CoP) and the Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC), which are also required by the DA - Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program and Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).
DA on the other hand, presented an update on the projects implemented by 4K in the different Ancestral Domains (AD) in the region. Also tackled were the priority areas for the 4K Project and Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) interventions; based on the poverty incidence, the situation of the IP associations and organizations in the region, the concerns about the Ancestral Domains Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP).
RD Cerna also presented RD Cedeño a Coffee Table Book Vol. 1-3 (Recognize, Respect, and Promote) as a token of appreciation and inspiration for DA to continue helping the IP communities in the region.
RD Cedeño turn over some 10 packs of 8-in-1 assorted seeds from the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP).
Also present during the meeting were Reynaldo M. Campomanes, DA Field Operations Chief, Juvy L. Guatno, 4K focal person, Ramil Lasagas (PRDP), Zena May Penalosa (NCIP), and DA and NCIP personnel.
