DA9 CONDUCTS CORN ROADSHOW IN LILOY, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE
On May 26, 2022, in the Municipality of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, the Department of Agriculture in Region 9 through its Corn Program served about 100 farmers during the conduct of the corn roadshow in the area.
The activity aims to provide updates to the farmers about DA’s corn program/services, assistance, and technology that could help the farmers further improve their corn production. In doing so, updates and information were imparted by DA’s resource speakers to the farmers like Soil Sampling/Balance Fertilization, BIO-N, Pests/Diseases and their Biological Control Agents, aflatoxin, and Marketing Assistance.
On the other hand, Regional Corn Coordinator Lorie Lee F. Estrevillo presented the various corn services that the farmers can avail themselves of from the department. The resource speakers coming from the different service sections of DA9 were Jay Mark Tingcang, Regional Soils Laboratory staff; Merlinda Garnica, Bio-N Focal Person, Research Division; Janet Balungcas and Ronielda Peñaflor, RCPC staff; Rachele Tura, RAFAL staff; and Bayani C. Valencia, AMAD staff.
Present also during the corn roadshow were Ronaldo B. Barote, Municipal Agriculturist, and George Vallente, APCO of Zamboanga del Norte.
The farmers received packs of metarhizium, beauveria bassiana (Bio-control agents provided by RCPC), BIO-N packs, and assorted IEC materials. (DA9info)
