The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) in coordination with the Department of Agriculture IX Livestock Program are conducting a five-day training course on Statistics-based Decision Making.
According to Christopher E. Mojica, Statistician III of the PSRTI training division, the Training course on Statistics-based Decision Making will provide an understanding of the principles of inferential statistics. It will provide the basic knowledge in data processing, analysis of survey results using the PhSTAT/MegaSTAT, an add-in module of MS Excel; and derive evidence-based decision-making from using the statistics generated from the data collected. Mojica mentioned the benefits of the training, “the hands-on application techniques and skills learned in this training will allow them to do an informed decision-making with the aid-of a computing tool.”
Two awards given to Region IX DA-DAR-DENR-DILG Regional Convergence Initiative (RCI 9) during the recently National Convergence Summit (NCI) held in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
The Recognition for Successful Implementation of national Convergence Initiative for Sustainable Rural Development (NCI-SRD) was given to the municipality of Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte. Formerly the “poorest municipality” across the nation according to the National Statistics Coordination Board in 2003. Siayan since has dropped its poverty rate and has developed a growing economy and competing in agriculture with their famous product of rice and cassava wine, Pangase. The recognition was received by Siayan Mayor Flora Villarosa, where she also shared Siayan’s experience and success through convergence works.
Cultivate hybrid seeds. Use mechanized farming equipment. Acquire irrigation. Avail of the rice crop insurance. These were the prime advocacies imparted to a sum of 200 rice farmers from the municipality of Kalawit in Zamboanga del Norte and Barangay Punta in Dipolog City during the Rice Information Caravan held last July 11 and 12 respectively.
The Department of Agriculture IX (DA9) turned over the Rice Processing Center (RPC) II worth 16 million pesos to Labangan Farmers First Consolidated Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LAFFICO MPC) in barangay Bulanit, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur recently.
