A Rice Processing Center 1 (RPC-1) worth six million pesos was turned over by the Department of Agriculture, Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 9 under the Rice Commodity Program to the Dipili Farmers Association in Barangay Dipili, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur recently.
Municipal Mayor Leonardo L. Babasa grateful for the project, said“This Rice Processing Center is an answer to our farmers’ plea to acquire and possess a drying facility and processing center because our municipality’s primary source of income is farming. Majority of our land area is planted with rice.”
“The Department of Agriculture is mandated to help and empower our clienteles, the farmers and fisherfolk and the private sector to produce enough, accessible and affordable food and a decent income for all. This RPC I will assist in reducing post-harvest losses and will provide access to efficient drying and milling facilities. This facility, if properly managed, will contribute to raising our farmers’ income and the progress of the municipality,” assured Constancio G. Alama, DA-RFO 9 Regional Director
The RPC I has an initial allocation of six million pesos (₱6M). It has one (1) set of multi – pass rice mill with a minimum output capacity of 1 ton per hour milled rice. It has one (1) lot of 300 sqm. warehouse with complete drainage and electrical system, portable moisture meter for rice and corn, weighing scale with one (1) ton capacity.
“We gratefully accept this project and promise to operate the processing center properly. This is an answered prayer for us. This will be a great help to our association and to our families. We can save time and money, and this will also help increase our income.
